The Director of the Children's Learning Center is responsible for the overall operation, management, and recruitment of child care services at Hagerstown Community College.
Education and experience - Master's degree in early childhood education or related field (including 24 credits in child development, early childhood, elementary or early childhood special education) from an accredited college required; minimum of 9 college credits in administration, leadership and/or management or meets alternative educational qualifications for Program Administrator as defined by NAEYC accreditation standards preferred, minimum 3 years' experience teaching preschool children in a full day early childhood program required; early childhood program management experience preferred; considerable knowledge of NAEYC accreditation standards and State of Maryland regulations governing group child care centers required; experience working in a college setting and/or NAEYC accredited center preferred. Must meet all current Maryland Office of Child Care regulations for director of a program with 40 or more children including the 45-clock hour or equivalent of approved administer training.
Skills and abilities - Skills in leadership, management, and supervision; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to operate standard office equipment and audio-visual equipment; ability to use a personal computer; ability to plan, schedule and effectively manage the work of subordinate employees; ability to design and implement internal operating procedures for the Center.
