Hampshire College Early Learning Center, an innovative, Reggio-inspired, accredited, college-affiliated early education and childcare program is accepting applications for an interim director.
Reporting to the director of auxiliary services, the interim director of the Early Learning Center (ELC) is responsible for the overall management and development of the College's early education and care program for children ages two months to five years. The interim director is responsible for the development and maintenance of the ELC daily operations, curriculum and budget. The interim director directly supervises and collaborates with the ELC’s seven teachers, ensures that the ELC mission statement is translated into daily practice, and that the programming supports the academic and childcare needs of the Hampshire College community.
An advanced degree with a minimum of five years job related experience is required; DEEC Director I or II certification is essential. Qualified candidate must have a sound knowledge of current research on child development and developmentally appropriate educational practices for children ages two months to five years. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, experience monitoring and operating budgets, proficient computer skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and the desire to work closely as part of a team. The interim director must be able to keep abreast of current licensing requirements and put them into practice. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
