Bernard Zell is seeking a Shadow Teacher to work one-on-one with a student in the classroom environment. Shadow teachers work closely with classroom teachers, social workers, and outside providers to administer behavior interventions, give individual and small group academic/social support, and provide consistency across milieus during the school day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the social emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of the individual student throughout the school day.
Be an integral part of the classroom and school environment.
Participate in classroom activities with students.
Assist with setting up and/or implementing individual systems and structures to support success of the student(s).
Collaboration with school and home to support implementation of plans, strategies, and general curriculum.
Regular communication between home and school.
Minimum Qualifications QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a school required
Knowledge of child development, curriculum differentiation, executive functioning and positive behavior support and/or a willingness to learn
Candidates with a background in child development, early childhood/elementary education, and/or special education desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of child development and best practices in education
Proven ability to work as a member of a team
Knowledge and experience with working with children in a school setting
Strong communication skills
