This position is responsible for providing early intervention and physical therapy services to families with infants and toddlers (birth to 3 years of age) who experience developmental delays or disabilities. Services include family service coordination, developmental evaluations, physical therapy, and service developmental coaching within the child and family’s natural environment.
Examples of Duties:
•Provide services to address the promotion of sensorimotor function through enhancement of musculoskeletal status, neurobehavioral organization, perceptual and motor development, cardiopulmonary status, and effective environmental adaptation. These services include:
oScreening, evaluation, and assessment of children to identify movement dysfunction;
oObtaining, interpreting, and integrating information appropriate to program planning to prevent, alleviate, or compensate for movement dysfunction and related functional problems; and
oProviding individual and group services or treatment to prevent, alleviate, or compensate for, movement dysfunction and related functional problems.
•Provides consultation to other providers and families.
•Provides family service coordination for children enrolled in the program, as needed.
•Develops and implements Individual Family Service Plans.
•Maintains up-to-date and accurate files and data entry in accordance with ILP and agency policies and follows billing procedures.
•Participates as a team member in transdisciplinary assessments.
•Travels to outlying areas as needed to provide services.
•Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with other providers and agencies serving families. In doing so, makes referrals and accesses resources for children and families.
•Work is performed primarily within the client’s home, including evening home visits; and will require driving during inclement weather conditions.
•Facilitates the transition process for children exiting from the program based on ILP standards.
•Participates in public awareness activities and child find efforts.
•Provides in-service training as necessary within the program, parent groups, community, and at statewide conferences.
•Supervises PT students as needed.
•Understands and complies with all agency policies and procedures.
•Ensures confidentiality as prescribed by agency policy and federal/state law.
•Maintains and promotes a positive professional working relationship with all employees and partner agencies.
•Attends and participates in meetings, committees and training as assigned.
•Performs other duties as assigned by the ILP Director.
•Participates in community diagnostic teams as needed.
•Master’s degree in physical therapy
•Current Alaska State licensure to practice physical therapy •1 year of experience providing pediatric physical therapy
•Valid Alaska driver license, reliable personal vehicle, and auto insurance per agency standards
Additional training required after hire:
•Registry with the SEED with an assigned level of 10 or higher within 30 days of hire.
•Completion of the State of Alaska Part C Credential within 6 months of hire.
•CPR/FA certification within 30 days of hire
•TB clearance required within 30 days and maintained throughout employment
•Alaska Background check clearance required prior to providing PT services
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge of child development.
•Proficiency in the use of computers for word processing, spreadsheets and other applications.
•Strong organization, documentation, and time management skills.
•Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
•Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
•Effective problem-solving skills.
•Ability to complete required documentation and reports within required timelines.
Ability to perform sedentary and active work that requires some lifting. Visual acuity necessary to utilize a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday. Ability to perform repetitive keyboarding activities and operate general office equipment.
Work is performed at the REACH office, client homes, and requires driving and traveling to home visits, evening visits and may include travel to outlying communities by small planes.
