The mission of New Moms is to express the love of God by surrounding young moms and their children with all they need to transform their lives. New Moms is a 35 year old nonprofit organization, with a budget of $4.1 million and a staff of about 50, focused on serving young moms in Chicago. New Moms’ model provides a comprehensive range of services to young moms and their children including supportive transitional housing, workforce development, and early childhood services. New Moms’ headquarters is located on the west side of Chicago in the Austin neighborhood. Our social enterprise, Bright Endeavors, which provides paid transitional jobs for young moms, is located nearby in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. We also have another location in Oak Park that serves Oak Park and the surrounding western suburbs.
About the Job: This full-time home visiting position is part of the Family Support Team which uses the Parents as Teachers curriculum, an evidenced based model which provides positive parenting support through comprehensive home-based early childhood services which includes parent coaching, case management and center-based services to pregnant and parenting families. S/he will collaborate with the other home visitors and Doulas to provide comprehensive services in an integrated program as well as the rest of the staff to provide seamless high quality services. This position works out of our Oak Park office and serves Oak Park and the surrounding western suburbs. Salary: $36,000-$40,000 depending on experience.

Maintains a full weighted caseload based on service intensity and full-time equivalency status implementing Parents as Teachers home visiting model.
Conducts thorough assessments of families, utilizing prescribed assessment tools on established schedule; develops written service plans, with quarterly updates at a minimum.
Conducts home based visits based on assigned service intensity with the participant that consist of age-appropriate parent-child activities and observations intended to enhance the parent-child relationship as well as service planning, life skills, crisis prevention as needed, and emotional support through a trauma informed approach.
Facilitates weekly parent support groups as assigned which meet best practice standards and program goals.
Performs written and electronic recordkeeping functions as required for both internal and external databases on a timely basis per agency policy.
The successful candidate will posses:
Commitment to and passion for the mission of New Moms.
Bachelor’s Degree in the area of social work, counseling, or psychology required; master’s preferred.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
2 years of experience in related field required.
Preference given to those with home visiting and/or group facilitation experience.
Preference given to those with Parents as Teacher training or similar model.
Ability to work 1 evening a week.
Endorses Family-Centered, Trauma-informed, Strengths-Based practice model that integrates harm reduction, motivational interviewing, executive skill building and positive child-development practices in working with families required.
High attention to detail and results-oriented approach to the work.
Experience in the use of personal computers and Microsoft software applications preferred.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, projects, and deadlines concurrently.
Sound professional judgement and analytical ability, as well as the desire to work in a socially-and psychologically pressured environment.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing.
Requires daily access to a reliable car and valid insurance.
