Part-Time Extended Day Program Teacher Tower School seeks teaching faculty and staff who demonstrate an interest in participating fully in the life and activities of a highly creative and joyful elementary and middle school, and will contribute to furthering Tower’s mission. Successful candidates will exhibit a great work ethic, a good sense of humor, strong written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to inspire young people. Start date - late August 2018
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Together with the Director of Club T.E.D., manages Club T.E.D. routines and manages students effectively Prepares motivating and stimulating activities that reflect knowledge of Tower’s curriculum, child development, and student interests and abilities Encourages an inclusive classroom setting that accepts the diverse perspectives and backgrounds of the students and elicits a greater understanding of the world Updates curriculum and materials as needed
Club TED Environment
Creates and maintains an after school environment that is motivating, clean, organized, and age appropriate Sets and maintains clear expectations for behavior and routine Demonstrates effective classroom management skills Communicates effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators as needed Helps to maintain an accurate and organized system for monitoring student attendance Helps to maintain substitute plans and engages substitutes in advance when possible
Demonstrates a willingness to learn, grow, and improve as a teacher Attends and participates as possible in full, divisional, and departmental/team faculty meetings
School and Community
Maintains a positive attitude and approach Supports colleagues Represents Tower School in a positive and mature manner throughout the greater community
Reports to: Director of Club T.E.D. (Tower’s Extended Day Program)
Classification: Part-Time Hourly, 13 hours/week

Education and/or Experience
Experience working with elementary-aged children required. Experience working in a school setting preferred. Bachelor's degree or working toward a Bachelor's degree preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to walk frequently. The individual may frequently be required to bend or stoop. The individual may frequently be required to lift objects up to 10 pounds.
