The Center for Families at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (Pediatrics Department) has an exciting opening for a position as a clinical director of the Care Clinic. This is a faculty position for a doctoral-level licensed child mental health professional. Our interdisciplinary Center's focus is on child maltreatment and family violence. Our mission is to promote the safety, health, and development of children, families, and communities through clinical services, research, education, and advocacy.
The Care Clinic is an out-patient mental health program that provides treatment to abused children and their families. The Care Clinic director oversees operations and maintains overall clinical responsibility for the activities of the Care Clinic. Responsibilities include clinical,outreach,and administrativeduties. Clinical duties include comprehensive intake evaluations, family therapy, group therapy and individual treatment of abused and neglected children; parenting support; advocacy, case coordination; and clinical consultation with staff. Outreach duties included outreach to community agencies; facilitating collaboration with community partners; coordination of training program for graduate students; training of practicum/intern students; and presentations to community members and other professionals on aspects of child maltreatment. Administrative duties include development and coordination of clinical, outreach, and training programs; facilitating clinical meetings; supervising staff and interns; securing funding for the programs (grant writing & reporting); creating and managing program budgets; evaluating Care Clinic programs; and administrating the data management software.
Qualifications include a doctoral in psychology, counseling, or education and at least five years of clinical experience post-licensure in child assessment and treatment with at least 3 years working specifically in the area of child maltreatment. Must be an approved supervisor with two years of supervisory experience. Managerial and teaching/training experience preferred.
