Chicago Commons is searching for various Teacher II for several of our locations on the west side of Chicago, Pilsen and Back of the yards.
Functioning as a teacher assistant; responsible for the education and general development of the children. Plans, implements and evaluates developmentally appropriate activities for children that include arts/crafts, science, social studies, math, language arts, social games, music/movement, physical activities, life skills, and projects. Shares responsibility for clean up after daily classroom activities. Attends and participates in team meetings, parent meetings, and in-service training.
Supervises and interacts with all children’s activities, both inside and outside the classroom.
Assists the Head Teacher in planning, implementing and evaluating developmentally appropriate activities for young children including the following activities: Self Image, Language/Literacy Development, Music and Movement, Social Studies, Science, Math, Art, Large/Small Motor Activities, and In-Depth Projects.
Assumes charge of classroom in Head Teacher’s absence.
Share responsibility for preparation and clean up of all classroom activities.
Assists with responsibility of ordering supplies needed for the program.
Interprets the program to parents and families.
Makes home visits as needed (Head Start mandated) and conducts parent conferences.
Assists Head Teacher in maintaining reports on children’s growth and development.
Participates in Family Reviews and IEPs.
Attends and participates in parent meetings.
Attends and participates in weekly team meetings.
Assists with lesson/activity/program planning.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Credentials:
BA/AA in Early Childhood education or Child Development to provide continuity of care from 6 months to age 5.
30+ semester hours with 6 credit hours specific to early childhood/infant toddler studies to service zero to age five children.
Preschool or Infant toddler CDA preferred.
