Non tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor with 9-month appointment. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in fashion merchandising and design program including some combination of apparel construction, apparel design, visual merchandising, social psychological dress, sourcing, historic costume, and internships.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The mission of the Department of Family and Consumer Science is to prepare students from diverse backgrounds for professional careers that focus on improving the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities in a global and technologically advanced society. The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is one of four academic departments within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS). The department offers Bachelor of Sciences degrees in three program areas with the following six distinct specialty areas: child development and family relations (non-licensure and BK licensure), consumer sciences, fashion merchandising and design, food and nutritional sciences (food science and human nutrition). Additionally, the department offers a Master of Science degree in food and nutritional sciences, a Masters of Arts in Teaching family and consumer sciences, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching child development, early education and family studies (birth-kindergarten licensure). Faculty members are actively engaged in research that contributes to the body of knowledge in the areas of nutrition, food science, housing, apparel, textiles and family issues.

Earned doctorate completed by date of appointment in fashion merchandising and design or closely related field from an accredited university, demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in fashion merchandising and design, strong technology skills related to delivery of distance education, classroom instruction, and studio instruction.
At least three years teaching at the undergraduate level preferred. Experience supervising student interns and working with industries/companies in the placement of undergraduate interns.
