Assistant Professor with 9-month, tenure track appointment. Primary responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in family and consumer sciences and family and consumer sciences education, advising, supervising, and recruiting students, coordinating program concentrations, participating in curriculum development, establishing a research program through collaborations and grant writing, serving on department, school and university committees and participating in other academic functions.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The mission of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is to prepare students from diverse backgrounds for professional careers that focus on improving the quality of life of individuals, families and communities in a global and technologically advanced society. The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is one of four academic departments within the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in three program areas with the following six distinct specialty emphases: child development and family relations, child development early education and family studies (birth-kindergarten licensure), consumer sciences, fashion merchandising and design, dietetics, food science, and pre-medicine nutrition. The department offers the Master of Science degree in food and nutritional sciences and the Master of Arts in Teaching in family and consumer sciences education and child development early education and family studies (birth to kindergarten). Faculty members are actively engaged in research that contributes to the body of knowledge in family and consumer sciences.

Doctorate (completed by date of appointment) in family and consumer sciences education or closely related field from an accredited university, demonstrated ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in family and consumer sciences, successful experience teaching family and consumer sciences at the secondary level, strong technology skills related to delivery of distance education, documented record of scholarly achievement and grant writing experience.
At least three years teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level preferred. Experience supervising student teachers and students enrolled in supervised intern programs.
