Director of BCM Community Education Programs The person in this position has primary responsibility for administering and overseeing all aspects of the BCM Community Education Programs including the Community Education Parent Initiative (CEPI). These programs include: the Whittier Fifth Dimension After-School Learning Program, reading and typing program, field-trip program, and summer computer program (all for children attending the Boys & Girls Club of Whittier, Inc.), plus the Day on Campus Program for underserved students from local schools. These programs are funded by a grant from the BCM Foundation; the grant includes pay and benefits for the Director of the BCM Community Education.

Responsibilities: Oversee, administer, and maintain the quality of all BCM Community Education Programs, including writing grant requests, grant stewardship, budget management, program evaluation, regular reporting to the BCM Foundation, and the Community Education Parent Initiative (CEPI).
Recruit, select, and train, Whittier College undergraduate students (known as BCM Scholars) to serve community youth in the BCM Programs listed above. Direct and supervise BCM Scholars on site; coach the BCM Scholars in ways of improving performance in work with children, with peers, and with personnel in community agencies.
Regularly evaluate the performance of Whittier College undergraduate students (BCM Scholars); if necessary, dismiss those who are not meeting performance standards published in BCM Programs Handbook.
Manage implementation of all BCM Program operations from day to day.
Communicate and collaborate consistently with BCM Community Education Program partners,including: the BCM Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of Whittier, Director Dr. Joyce Kaufman of Whittier College's Center for Engagement with Communities, the Whittier College Department of Education & Child Development, Whittier College administrators and faculty, and personnel in collaborating community organizations (e.g., schools, museums). Maintain data on program attendance, activities, and results. Identify and pursue opportunities for enrichment and expansion of the BCM Community Education Programs.
