Westminster seeks a talented and energetic choral teacher for the Middle and Upper School. The ideal candidate will have a strong mix of organizational, musical, and artistic skills. The candidate will be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, committed to Christ-centered teaching and committed to Westminster's mission "... to equip students to live extraordinary lives for Jesus Christ."
Instruct all Middle school and upper school choral music classes such that students sequentially develop skills with enthusiasm and enjoyment.
Plan and implement choral performances and seasonal concerts.
Provide choral opportunities for students to continue skill development and experiences outside of Westminster.
Play piano and conduct with proficiency.
Utilize effectively the best music methodologies and stay current in them through professional development.
Model and instruct good vocal technique appropriate for each developmental age, and model confident singing for musical accuracy and expressiveness.
Use knowledge of child development at each level of instruction.
Help the non-singer gain confidence.
Collaborate with the Headmaster's office in music planning for graduation and other designated school community events.
Collaborate with local, state, and national music associations for both professional development and opportunities for students.
Select and prepare students who represent Westminster in music competitions including the GISA region and state literary competitions and GMEA district and state level events.
Maintain the middle school/upper school choral music budget and oversee related purchases.
Bachelor's or Master's degree of Music Education
Five to seven years of instructional experience.
Demonstrate strong organizational and communication abilities.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
Demonstrate excellent personal musicianship.

Written Comprehension and Expression- The ability to understand and communicate information and ideas in writing so others can understand.
Selective Attention- The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
Vision- the ability to see details at a close range as well as at a distance.
Environment- The ability to work in a potentially stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
The ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
Generally works in climate controlled environment, but may be required from time to time to work outdoors in extreme conditions.

Westminster Schools of Augusta is a Pre-K through 12 regionally-accre...dited, coeducational, college- preparatory, Christian day school enrolling 625 students. The 34-acre campus is located in a residential section of Augusta, which is Georgia’s second largest metropolitan area. The school is affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Augusta (PCA), but the student body and faculty include members from more than almost 90 different local churches of various denominations.
We offer an excellent college-preparatory program including honors and Advanced Placement options. The average SAT I score for all Westminster students taking the SAT last year was 1832. Students also enjoy opportunities for participation in clubs, athletics, the arts and various academic and artistic competitions.
