The Bank Street School for Children is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and team-oriented visual art teacher, who is an advocate for the role of the arts, in particular how the visual arts foster the healthy development of children of all ages and learning styles. An interest in professional growth is expected.
Teaching visual art classes with set curriculum and co-teaching woodworking classes (Grades Pre-K-8).
Teaching and developing curriculum for afterschool art classes.
Collaboratively developing and implementing curriculum reflecting child development, child-centered education, diversity, and social justice.
Collaborating with art department and classroom teachers.
Writing narrative reports on each student’s progress 1-2 times/year.
Organizing and maintaining the art studio, including children’s portfolios.
Installing, labeling, and updating exhibits of children’s artwork for all classes.
Making supply orders and working within a given budget.
Regular division, department, supervisor, and subject area leader meetings.
Flexible schedule that allows for teaching in the after school program.
