Advertised Summary Job Description: Grant Funded: The Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health, Mailman School of Public Health seeks a Child Specialist II. The candidate will provide Early Head Start services to infants, toddlers, and their parents through child development services individually and ins socialization groups with parents, through home visiting and family support.
Duties consist of: Co-lead socialization groups for children and parents. Work collaboratively to provide services for special family events at the Center and in the community. Plan and implement individualized and developmentally appropriate lesson plans for home and group visits; work with parents to support their children's development and address parenting and family/social service needs directly or through referrals.
Provide developmental screenings and health screenings and ongoing assessment; use results of assessment in individualized curriculum for home and group. Provide health tracking of children; arrange for health & dental services & maintain timely health records; accompany parents to secure services, as needed.
Collaborate with other child development team members to provide an environment that invites interest, curiosity and exploration for children ; work with supervisors and consult with program area specialists.
Maintain up to date documentation for work with children and families; participate in analysis of outcomes and adapt interventions to improve outcomes. Participate in staff meetings, supervision, in-service trainings and conferences, as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: BA with some course work in early childhood or related field. One year of related experience.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development. Fluency in Spanish and English required, including strong oral and written communication skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Office Suite. Child Development Associate completed within first year of employment.

Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Early Childhood classroom setting; Coursework in Infant/toddler development.
