Job Requisition Number: 24470. The Center on the Developing Adolescent is currently seeking a 6-month Communications Specialist to develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive, strategic, and transdisciplinary communication program for the Center. This will include refining content and developing multi-media strategies for two key components to a wide range of scientific, program, policy, media, general public, and funder audiences: 1) communicating about the Center’s mission and activities; and 2) disseminating the core scientific story of adolescence that the Center is developing with the FrameWorks Institute. The Communications Consultant will also be responsible for the production of high quality materials targeted for diverse audiences either directly or by securing and managing consultants.
•Works with management and clients to create, develop, and implement long and short term strategic communications plans and/or projects. •Manages comprehensive communications programs, including written, visual, and electronic communications. •Advises and consults with the Center Leadership Team regarding all aspects of communications including developing strong communications strategies that effectively deliver the desired message, policy interpretation, and problem resolution. •Ensures production of high quality products that effectively deliver the desired message within budget and time constraints. •Identifies specific communications needs and develops the content and process for organizational improvements. •Revise and manage the Center’s website. •Collaborate with the FrameWorks Institute to develop a communications strategy for communicating the Core Story of Adolescent Development •Provide communications training to Center Team and Partners. •Identify and secure creative consultants as needed.•Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training •Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications. •Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications. •Knowledge of and interest in adolescent or child development or other relevant science communications field. •Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans. •Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to target and/or broad general audiences. •Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills. •Ability to develop protocols and channels for communication internally and externally. •Advanced knowledge and understanding of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media platforms, technical aspects and requirements of various platforms, and most appropriate and effective communications for diverse audiences. •Experience developing communication plans for academic and/or scientific partners. This is a full-time, six month contract position.
