Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Child Development Laboratory School at Iowa State University is seeking applications for an Early Childhood Head Teacher (Program Coordinator I) to provide a high quality care and education environment for a group of young children birth to three-years-old, including children with disabilities. Responsibilities include plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum; write developmental summaries of children based on assessment information; supervision of practicum students, undergraduate XH staff, and volunteers; communication with parents, Human Development & Family Studies (HDFS) faculty, administrators, and other professionals; collaboration with HDFS faculty conducting research and fostering relationships with faculty in other departments for research purposes; and maintaining the highest quality care and education through adherence to state, federal, and accreditation guidelines and standards.
The successful candidate will have the ability to balance the competing demands and needs of children, parents, practicum students, interns, student teachers, faculty, and researchers.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 6 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field such as Child Development; Experience working with children with special needs.
