Oregon Child Development Coalition is currently hiring a Risk Manager to join the Human Resources department at our corporate office in Wilsonville, OR.
The Risk Manager is responsible for the direct management of the Risk Department, which includes the workers’ compensation, property/casualty insurance and safety programs. The position coordinates efforts to control or mitigate loss-producing conditions and activities involving unsafe working conditions, employee accidents or injuries, and other related events, implementing risk preventive measures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and maintains systems for timely and accurate recording of losses, claims, insurance premiums, and other risk-related costs and experience factors.
Researches and evaluates modern trends in safety, loss control, risk management, cost containment strategies, and creates reports based on findings.
Establishes policies and procedures for work situations that are varied and complex.
Investigates and processes claims related to workers’ compensation and property/casualty.
Conducts field evaluations and inspections of risk potential of facilities and agency practices. Coordinates with management and safety representatives to correct risk conditions.
Coordinates and/or facilitates safety training programs.
Provides support and technical assistance to staff to build risk awareness within the agency.
Creates reports and provides analysis of data with recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
Reviews and assists in establishing and maintaining contracts, interagency agreements, and memoranda of understanding in complying with current policies, public laws, and Head Start requirements.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field AND a minimum of 7 years of work experience in management of risk.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Possess expert knowledge and ability to apply Oregon OSHA regulations and standards, Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division statutes and regulations, insurance industry standards and best practices, child safety standards (both regulatory and voluntary) and a working knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management.
Applies knowledge of insurance laws and risk management practices, safety inspections and training, and research/data collection methods.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to research and interpret policy, regulations, and procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees and the general public.
Ability to understand systems and apply system methodology to analyzing, problem solving, planning, and implementation for a diverse, large organization.
