Cultivate Learning has an outstanding opportunity for a Coach Support Specialist.
Reporting to the Director of School Age & Youth Development, the Coach Support Specialist serves as a subject matter expert and an important point of support for Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) coaches, and is integral to promoting the quality coaching in the ELO Field. This position will be responsible for the oversight and management of professional development materials and video exemplars, participate in the creation and delivery of ELO Coaching Certificate materials and generating content for the Coaching Companion resource library, developing content for the Coaching Companion training suites, and independently represent ELO and provide trainings and coaching on ELO products, Practice-Based Coaching Model, and continuous professional development for various internal and external partners. This position will also utilize specialized knowledge in the field of early learning and professional development to carry out, coach and lead professional development and training events within the ELO team and Cultivate Learning.
The Coach Support duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Collaborate with ELO Curriculum Specialist and other members of the ELO team on the production of various professional development products. Responsibilities include overseeing and managing collection of video exemplars in English and Spanish of instructional interactions between adults and children in various childcare settings, contributing to the development of a Coaching Companion training, the development of coach training materials from a tiered approach, and collection of video exemplars of the Coach Model.
Revise materials in previously completed suites such as adding new video, new materials and resources, and updating content to reflect diverse child care settings. This also includes the adaptation of newer Cultivate Learning suites by adding video exemplars from the ELO field, creating new materials and handouts to support providers in diverse settings, and adapting content of PowerPoint presentations to address needs of diverse settings.
Actively participating in the creation and delivery of ELO Coaching Certificate materials and generating content, providing instruction and direction to staff members, coaches and students, and provides feedback to continue to refine Certificate content. This position will also be responsible for presenting at Center institutes and providing coaching recruitment support such as providing announcements and flyers to SOWA and Raikes.
Collaborate with Cultivate Learning partners in the creation, revision, and content development for the Coaching Companion resource library with exemplar video, articles, and resources to support ELO coaches.
Provide training and consultation on the Practice-Based Coaching Model. Facilitate and support the development of reflective practice group(s) among ELO coaches and providers. Train and support ELO coaches in Practice Based Coaching and the development of communities of practice.
Collaborate with various ELO and Cultivate Learning staff to carry out professional development and training events for ELO coaches, administrators, related to the Practice Based Coaching Model. Includes the provision of in person training, on-line webinars and individual consultation.
Collaborate with Assessment Lead in the evaluation of the Coach Model by collecting data to prepare monthly reports on coaching efforts. Collaborate with Assessment Lead to carry out data collection with coaches through survey, focus groups, and other methods.
Present in-person trainings to ELO providers in upcoming EA Institutes on various topics related to area of expertise (could include Practice-Based Coaching, Motivational Interviewing, Coaching Companion.) Also present research on coaching at various conferences (such as NAEYC PD conference, IECC).
Bachelor's degree, with coursework in child development, learning, family systems, and culturally competent approaches to working with children and families, plus at least 3 years of relevant coaching experience. (ELO field experience preferable as well.)
Knowledge of and experience with consultation, reflection, and reflective supervision with adults working with children, youth and/or families.
Experience with professional development and training related to supporting children, youth and ELO program staff.
Ability to consistently apply sound professional judgment and critical thinking to address complex issues, solve problems, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Experience with data entry, working with databases, paperwork management, and working within project deadlines.
Ability to track complex projects and to ensure their timely completion.
Ability to work with people of various racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Experience with word processing/editing program, preferably Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet programs.
Willingness to do some travel.
Training and Proficiency requirements.
Demonstrate understanding of the rationale behind the Coach Model, including the components of Practice Based Coaching, as well as the guiding principles of Cultural Competence, Resilience, and Parallel Process.
Demonstrate understanding of the rationale behind PQA Standards and local and state requirements for ELO programs serving children and youth.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
