Charlotte Country Day School, an independent coeducational day school located in Charlotte, NC, is recruiting for a long-term substitute teacher for our Lower School French program, beginning mid-December and running through the end of the school year. The position has the potential to turn into a full-time teaching position for the 2018-2019 school year. Our program is a strong FLES program that covers all four communicative functions, with an emphasis on building oral proficiency.
Candidates should be a dynamic, strong language instructor with a background in early childhood and elementary language learning. Advanced level proficiency in French is required. Candidates should also be collaborative team members and willing to work to meet individual student and family needs.
Create engaging, high quality French lessons JK-4 and implement small and whole group language instruction for students
Assess and record student progress in the language, including completing report cards
Maintain good communication with families about their child’s progress and about classroom events
Be a positive, collaborative member of the Language Team
Regularly update Power Learning classroom pages
Attend all faculty and department level meetings
Perform additional duties (carpool, bus, etc.) as assigned for your particular role
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Elementary education and/or language degree and experience preferred
Fluent in technology
Demonstrated love for children and an understanding of child development
Time management skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
May have extended times of standing and or walking around campus
Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment
Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
