The Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Michigan State University is seeking an Assistant Director for its Child Development Lab in East Lansing. This position consists of supervising Central School staff and students; managing procedures for ordering supplies; assisting in the planning and implementation of school wide events; developing and maintaining University student placement in lab settings; assisting with public relations and marketing; ensure understanding and application of developmentally appropriate practice and child development within program; maintain personnel records as required by State of Michigan Licensing, GSQ, NAEYC; provide orientation for new student staff which includes reviewing with them their job description, staff rules, and personnel policies of the center; assist in long range planning for building, grounds, and related programming; follow university policies and guidelines in the operation of Central School; assist with public relations and marketing (regular bulleting announcements via Remind, Facebook, Listserv); model and facilitate positive staff interactions with children, parents, researchers, and visitors; represent the Child Development Laboratories as a member of an area professional organization; contribute leadership and participate in professional staff conference presentations; assist with periodic special projects as determined by Director of Child Development Laboratories; Teach Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) courses as assigned (1-2 per year); provide for appropriate in-service training, workshops, and outside professional development opportunities as needed for staff development; keep center in compliance with State of Michigan Licensing renewals, Great Start to quality and ongoing compliance and meet with representatives of those agencies as necessary, including regular reporting and renewal processes; organize and monitor the collection of NAEYC criteria for Central School; compose annual NAEYC report for Central School, incorporating staff input.
Required: Master degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education
