Position Summary and Responsibilities
Wimpfheimer Nursery School, located on the Vassar College campus, is a laboratory school which serves as a teacher training and research facility, and welcomes Vassar and community families.
This assistant teacher position will teach in the toddler after school program (TAS), with children ages 2 to 3. S/he will also support the teaching team in the toddler program and other programs as needed. Responsibilities include implementing innovative curriculum development , providing and modeling positive discipline practices in classroom management, interacting with and supporting parents, families, supervising college work study student, assisting researchers working with children, and caring for the general classroom and school environment as well as other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Assistant Director.
This position is part-time, non benefit eligible position. The successful applicant must be able to observe a schedule of 12:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is temporary through May 25, 2018. Flexibility is required as hours may occasionally need to be adjusted or modified due to staffing or programming needs. This position reports to the director of Wimpfheimer.
Qualifications Qualifications include a minimum of Associate's Degree in Childhood Education or related field. Experience in a lab school setting preferred. Flexibility, creativity, effective communication skills, professionalism and strong teamwork skills are required. Must successfully complete all requirements of the Office of Children and Family Services.
