Think strategically and creatively about the future of the school and work with the Board of Trustees on issues of strategic planning and financial management
Manage change and work collaboratively to further a shared vision for the future of HMS
Communicate effectively with multiple constituencies
Promote and market the school effectively
Assess the strengths and challenges of the school and work collaboratively to bring mission-consistent change.
The head of school should possess:
A strong understanding of progressive educational values and child development
A strong understanding of current educational thinking and research in learning and teaching
A deep appreciation for the work of faculty and staff and the community spirit of HMS
An inclusive spirit, deep integrity, and demonstrated commitment to diversity and community
Strong organizational and management skills including the ability to execute a plan and hold people accountable
A commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
