POSITON DESCRIPTION: Provide comprehensive child development services to the children of participants in HOW’s permanent supportive housing and other programs with a strong emphasis on academic improvement and success. Work collaboratively with HOW staff toward family goals as they relate to the well being of children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Outreach to families and engage parents and children
Work in conjunction with HOW staff toward family goals
Assess the academic needs of individual children
Develop individual plans with children and families to support goals
Use appropriate measurement tools to assess progress
Implement programs and activities that meet the educational and social needs of children
Supervise tutoring for children and youth
Link children to external community resource as needed
Participate in the construction and management of a tutoring program
Participate in the design and implementation of off-site programs
Act as a liaison between parents and teachers
Work closely with the Support Services Team toward team goals
Enter and track data and progress on the company database
Maintain participant files
Assist with relevant advocacy efforts
Participate in all relevant HOW meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
This position is supervised by: Director of Support Services
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Child Development, or Psychology
Minimum two years of experience working with youth and children
Knowledge of homelessness and housing issues.
Knowledge of Affordable Housing Practices (Housing First, Harm Reduction)
Comfortable working with diverse groups of people including: Homeless population and LGBT.
Excellent oral and written communication; exceptional organizational skills.
Excellent research capabilities and comfortable working in a team setting
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.
STARTING SALARY: $30ks; provide salary history.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, regular business hours with flexibility required. Up to 75% of work time may be spent off-site.
Essential Functions Include:
Able to lift a minimum of 25lbs, and walk up and down stairs
Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and proof of automobile insurance
Must pass applicable background checks, CANT’s screening.
