The Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health, Mailman School of Public Health seeks a temporary Early Head Start Child Specialist to provide Early Head Start services to infants, toddlers and their parents through child development services individually and in socialization groups with parents, through home visiting, and family support. Duties include:
Co-lead socialization groups for children and parents. Work collaboratively to provide services for special family events at the Center or in the community. Plan and implement individualized and developmentally appropriate lesson plans for home and group visits; work with parents to support their children's development and address parenting and family/social service needs directly at home or center or through referrals.
Provide developmental screenings and health screenings and ongoing assessment; use results of assessment in individualized curriculum for home and group. Provide health tracking of children; arrange for health & dental services & maintain timely health records; accompany parents to secure services, as needed.
Collaborate with other child development team members to provide an environment that invites interest, curiosity and exploration for children; work with supervisors and consult with program area specialists.
Maintain up to date documentation for work with children and families; participate in analysis of outcomes and adapt interventions to improve outcomes. Participate in staff meetings, supervision, in-service trainings and conferences, as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalency required. Fluency in Spanish and English required, including strong oral and written communication skills. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Office Suite. Child Development Associate Certificate must be completed within first year of employment.
The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made.
