Position: After-school care supervisor for preschool - kindergarten classes (part-time) Effective: August 15, 2017 Job Description Overview:
Almaden Country School is seeking an after-school care supervisor for our Apple Tree program, serving preschool, junior kindergarten, and kindergarten students. The hours for this 60% position are 12:30 to 5PM, Monday - Friday.
The primary focus of Apple Tree is to provide a safe, nurturing, home-like environment for our young students. This is a time for students to continue their learning through play-based activities. Student participation in all activities is by choice, with many opportunities for creative exploration, dramatic play, construction, and physical activity. Quiet time to read, draw, and simply talk with a friend is also encouraged.
The successful candidate will value and support our developmental philosophy. He or she will understand the vision of a home-like environment, while offering enriching activities to engage children. The supervisor will be a fully integrated member of the school community and will join the faculty in fulfilling our mission of discovering the gifts in every child.
Essential to success will be an understanding of the developmental stages of young children, and how these influence student choice. Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate intentionality in building relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
The successful applicant will provide evidence of high personal and professional standards, written and verbal communication ability, and eagerness to grow as a teacher.
