The Area Coordinator is responsible for the management and oversight of two early childhood classrooms and an assigned outdoor area at the University Child Development Center (UMCDC). This position models and demonstrates best practices and teaching methods, coaches staff and students, and provides assessment of the classrooms, teachers, and play yard. This position oversees the development and implementation of classroom curriculum, evaluates and supervises all teaching staff in the assigned classrooms, and oversees the developmental assessments and conferences of the children. This position is also responsible for creating complex and multifaceted weekly and daily staffing schedules. The Area Coordinator ensures strict compliance with MN DHS licensing (Rule 3) statutes, MN Dept. of Education regulations, NAEYC accreditation standards, USDA, and ADA/IDEA federal requirements.
BA/BS degree plus at least four (4) years of related experience, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal eight (8) years.
Minimum one year of formal experience working with children 3 months to 5.5yrs in a full day childcare or development program (inclusive in the years of related experience listed above).
Minnesota Pre-kindergarten teacher licensure in early childhood development, elementary or early childhood education or equivalent (birth through 8 years).
Ability to successfully complete and pass a background study and reference verification that meets requirements of State of MN Department of Human Services Division of Licensing Act, Rule 11.
