Currently we are seeking applicants for a Coordinator of Education
This position will be Responsible for the coaching, training and supervising of teachers with the goal of improving student and family outcomes. The person in this role will spend at least 80% of his/her time in classrooms working with classroom staff.
Contributes to the development of the overall agency and school educational plan.
Develops and maintains a quality program that meets the needs of children, families and staff 0-5
Assures classrooms teams are creating an atmosphere where children can develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically
Trains teachers in educational content and pedagogy
Coaches teachers in educational content and pedagogy, helping teachers reflect and become better practitioners
Supervises and evaluates teachers
Is responsible for the professional development of the staff focusing on the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of children
Assures continuity of care in the schools
Assists in lesson team lesson planning and reviews all lesson plans
Assures that the student and teacher interactions are at the high levels of support
Assures the IEPs and IFSPs are being implemented in the classroom
Assists teachers in differentiating planning and instruction for all children
Works collaboratively with family support initiatives to bring families successfully into the educational program
Assist in the planning of family events
Plans and conducts parent meetings as necessary
Participates in family meetings as needed
Works with the Director and participates in Team as needed
Assists in student/family recruitment as needed
Assists in teacher recruitment and interviewing as needed
Monitors the fidelity of curriculum and other initiatives
Prepares written reports as requested or required
Other duties as assigned

Must have deep knowledge of best-practices in early education
Must have a deep understanding of developmentally appropriate practices in early education
Must have deep understanding of teaching pedagogy
Must have a deep understanding of the content pedagogy (how to teach literacy, math, etc.)
Knowledge and/or certification in CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) preferred
Must have previous teaching experience in 0-5 and/or K-3
Must have knowledge of supervision and/or supervisory experience
Knowledge of a coaching model (Practice Based Coaching, Reflective Coaching, In-Situ Coaching, etc.) preferred
Knowledge of Reflective Supervision preferred
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage many projects at once.
Must be able to provide supervision to others.
Must have the ability to work under stress.
Must be able to use supervision effectively.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must be able to get to various locations around Chicago as needed
Must have outstanding people skills and the ability to develop, grow, and maintain relationships with other agencies.
Must have excellent oral and written skills in English.
Spanish fluency is a plus.
Must have sound judgment and decision making ability.
Must be a self-motivated person who can work both individually and on a team.
Must be able to take initiative and make sound decisions.
Must have knowledge of Head Start and Early Head Start requirements and Performance Standards.
Must have the capacity to assume responsibility for own professional development
Must be detail oriented.
Must be able to serve as an advocate for children and families.
Level 5 Certification in Gateways
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education OR
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 18 credit hours in Child Development with experience teaching in an early childhood setting.
